2Seeds is building a network of community-based agricultural development projects in Africa. Our projects address the urgent needs of food and income security for smallholder farmers. At the heart of every 2Seeds project is a partnership between our team of Project Coordinators and a group of local leaders who are committed to serving their communities.
Every 2Seeds project is created within the community it serves. Project Coordinators spend 9 months living and working in their host communities. They begin their work with an assessment of the challenges of food and income security that local farmers face. Together with their host communities, Project Coordinators identify the under-utilized resources that exist within and around the community. The most important local resource is the abundant wealth of human capital: community leaders with a desire to create change, and a wealth of knowledge of how to do so.
We believe that these community leaders are the keys to solving the world's most challenging problems. Our Project Coordinators help these leaders create lasting change in their communities. Project Coordinators act as catalysts and consultants, working with their partners to create and develop local ideas that utilize local resources. Project Coordinators help their partners leverage these ideas and resources by connecting them with market information, agricultural best practices, and cutting-edge ideas and technologies from around the world. If appropriate, our Project Coordinator teams can act as initial investors in the project, using the funds that they personally raise.
Every 2Seeds project is different, because all respond to the particular needs and resources of the communities that own and operate them. But all 2Seeds projects are driven by the same core values: financial and operational sustainability, accountability, and community ownership.
